Trail Mixer

Nominate your event or project
for the Global Alliance of Artists Environment Xchange 2013-14 featured programs!

This year’s theme is “Trail Mixer”, and we invite projects that provide opportunities and pathways for artists and environmental groups to connect.

The deadline for completing the nomination application is Thursday, August 22, 2013.

Project Requirements
Proposed events or projects should take place in the Chicago region between October 2013-September 2014, and feature either:
  1. opportunities for artists
  2. demonstrations of sustainable practices in the arts, OR
  3. best practices in art and environment partnerships

Project Eligibility
Many types of projects are welcomed! Examples from last year include:
  • Art supply exchange at Joe’s garage
  • Tour of artist opportunities at the Forest Preserve District of Cook County sites
  • Climate clinics providing educational resources for artists about climate change
  • And other creative events!

The target audience for all submitted are artists and environmental or conservation groups in the region.

Selection Process
Nominated projects will be voted on by Xchange members, and selected for the Xchange 2013’s Featured Projects.

Selected projects will be revealed in October at the 2013 Trail Mixer, a celebratory networking event (date and time to be announced). The event will unveil each project through Pecha Kucha style presentations. After the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments (including, of course, trail mix!), meet with each project, and discuss collaboration opportunities by visiting stations hosted by each project.

Reap the Benefits!
The Xchange will provide promotional support to each featured project through our calendar, website, blog, social media, and communication with members. Please note, the Xchange does not provide direct funding for programs although we are happy to help connect proposed projects with potential funders.

More information about the Xchange

This online collaborative, launched less than a year ago, helps artists and environmental organizations share resources, post opportunities for collaboration, and partner with the ultimate goal of improving environmental quality. The Xchange is a two-part program consisting of 1) an online discussion forum and blog, and 2) events where participants can network and develop face-to-face solutions. Organizations and artists interested in joining GAA’s Xchange can learn more at www.aex.globalallianceartists.org.
